Disaster Assistance September 26 Stake President Message
Helping Hands Service Photos September 26

Sisters and Brothers,
I am grateful for those who are here in Daphne to serve in a face to face opportunity.  Our stake has been approached for another unique opportunity to give service by those who are not here physically but have the desire to serve those in need.

Requests for work orders by the volunteers have gone from 300 requests a day last week to 1500 requests a day this week.  The Disaster Cleanup is in dire need of individuals willing to answer requests and create the work order for the volunteers.  Answering the requests is a volunteer opportunity for members of our stake who have not traveled down here but would like to serve in a different yet just as important capacity.

To become a volunteer here is what you need to do
Crisis Cleanup is helping hundreds of local relief organizations and churches identify and help people affected by Hurricane Sally.

They have opened a hotline staffed by volunteers from many organizations. The hotline is fielding 1,500+ calls per day, and volunteers are needed to answer calls in their homes, then enter the requests on a shared map. Relief organizations then claim the cases, help the residents, and mark them "Closed."
Schedules are flexible, please be willing to help for about 3 hours each day.

Volunteers need not be computer whizzes, but should be comfortable with technology. You need a computer, any phone, and internet.

To get started, watch the first two training videos at
https://www.crisiscleanup.org/training

To get access to Crisis Cleanup, visit https://crisiscleanup.org/request_access Enter janetlewis@justserve.org where it asks for "Existing Crisis Cleanup User in Your Organization." Complete the form, and click "Request Access." Janet will approve you, usually within a few hours. You should receive an email when that happens.

After you have been approved, log in with the email address and password you chose earlier. Follow the instructions in the "Supplementary Phone Training" https://www.crisiscleanup.org/training to turn on the phone system.

Sisters and Brothers, we would be grateful to have approximately 100 people fulfill this assignment for the next two days.  Please take approximately 3 hrs out of each day and help with this effort.
