Hurricane Service Project September 26 - Daphne Alabama.
Tuscaloosa Stake President's Message

Brothers and Sisters,

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for those who served last weekend in Pensacola Fl.  I have heard many inspiring stories of new friends made, hope restored and introductions to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

One insight I heard was, "Where do you begin trying to explain your experience when you step into the middle of someone's story and realize you made a difference?  You start by thinking you are going to give a little help to some people who have had a traumatic experience and realize their story becomes your story and you are changed from the service and the personal interactions you experience."

Once again we have the opportunity to give service this weekend.

To help with social distancing and to keep work assignments moving smoothly each stake is assigned a time to pick up work orders.  Our start time on Sat. will be 9:30 am.  We are encouraged to arrive Friday night if possible and it may be possible to get work assignments that evening so we could start earlier.

We are expected to provide at least 100 people from the Tuscaloosa Stake.  To achieve that number some sacrifice will be necessary on our part.

I will get additional instructions tomorrow and will get them out ASAP.

Please extend specific invitations to go, please don't just send out an email inviting people if available.

Elders Quorum Presidents
Pres. Fuller will be contacting each EQP with a specific request for people from that unit.

Each unit will need to organize those going into teams of 8-10 and designate a team captain before they leave.

The church provided some chainsaws, tarps, hammers, and other materials to help the people with.  I am not sure if the needs of those in Daphne will be the same as those in Pensacola, but I expect that they will be.

They will have places to camp.

To help get people there I have authorized the unit leaders to forgo face to face meetings so more might be able to go.  Each unit will have a short Sacrament on Sunday so we can get to work making a difference.

Invite Others
Encourage our members to invite friends and neighbors to go and serve with us.

You will receive this same message through the Tuscaloosa Fast Command site which will send out a text with a link to this information as well.

Thank you for the work you are about to do to bless others.
